Individual Commissions
$3,000 and above
CIMF has a long and proud history of commissioning new music. All works commissioned to be premiered at the festival are fully funded by donors. Donations for commissions ensure that our Artistic Director has the financial support to continue commissioning bold new Australian music, keeping our art form vibrant.
CIMF has an impressive record in commissioning diverse voices, including Indigenous, female and emerging composers.
All individual commissions are discussed in detail with our Artistic Director and are created in close collaboration between the commissioner, the artist, and the Artistic Director.

A Major Lift is our donor circle created to support the commissioning of Australian music to be premiered at the Festival.
Joining A Major Lift will give you the opportunity to contribute to the creation of new music and experience a world premiere performance. You will also be invited to a ‘Meet the Composer’ event along with your fellow commissioners.
All donations to A Major Lift are tax deductible and acknowledged in our Festival Program and on our website.
In 2023, A Major Lift celebrated its five year milestone.
