The Canberra International Music Festival Ltd. (CIMF) respects the rights of our patrons, staff, suppliers and partners to decide when and how their personal information is used, and for this reason, we have chosen to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) . The Board has decided under the provisions of that Act relating to smaller businesses not to “opt-in” at this stage to the formal procedures of the Act in view of the extra administrative costs involved in formally opting in.

Our commitment to privacy is reflected in:
• the freedom to visit our website and access most information without the need to give us any personal information;
• the choice to give us personal information if you wish to receive information about the CIMF and related activities; and
• a pledge that we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold in accordance with the Privacy Act and accepted industry standards.

Information We Collect About You
We may collect personal information about you where this is reasonably necessary for, or directly related to our functions and activities.

The kinds of personal information we collect includes personal details such as your name, address, phone number, email address and student ID number and Institution (where applicable).

We may also need to collect your credit card details to enable us to process a payment from you. Additional information we may collect includes your preferences for various services we provide.

We collect personal information for recruitment and personnel management purposes (in relation to CIMF staff and job applicants).

How We Collect Personal Information
We collect information about you when you interact with us. This includes when you use our online services such as subscribing to receive updates on happenings behind the scenes of the CIMF. We also collect information about you when you complete our online or paper forms, for example when you complete an application form to become a CIMF member or sponsor, when you purchase tickets to attend CIMF concerts or when you donate funds to the CIMF.

We will generally collect personal information directly from you, unless it is unreasonable or impracticable to do so. We may in limited circumstances collect information from someone else where this is authorised or required by law, or you consent.

We use your personal information for the purpose it is collected. This includes
• processing your membership application;
• processing your purchase for concert tickets, CIMF events and merchandise;
• processing your donations;
• responding to your enquiries;
• ensuring you receive CIMF news and updates when you choose to subscribe to such services; and
• working with you if you become a CIMF sponsor.
CIMF provides its patrons with a number of options for making payments. All payments made to CIMF by credit card are processed through a company called Trybooking Pty Ltd. You can access the Trybooking Privacy Policy from their website at: https://www.trybooking.com/info/privacy.

CIMF periodically conducts direct marketing campaigns to promote the Festival and related activities. We may use your information to provide you with details of upcoming events and concerts. In these circumstances, we will provide you with details about how to opt-out of future campaigns.

We may disclose your personal information where you have requested a particular service that is provided by that third party.

We may also disclose your personal information to a debt collection agency where it is necessary for debt collection purposes.
