Jordan Rodger is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser based in Canberra, ACT.
While studying jazz guitar at the ANU School of Music he dabbled in post-rock/hardcore, developing his solo guitar pedal driven bedroom project into a full band, Mornings in 2009. Sticking with a then unpopular instrumental style, receiving the regular heckle, “where are the lyrics?”, Jordan developed his sonic palette creating walls of sound, feedback and longer form, improvised pieces.
Alongside this project, Jordan launched a record label, Cinnamon Records, in 2012. Releasing music from an eclectic and wonderfully odd roster of artists, Cinnamon Records included many punk and DIY projects featuring Jordan himself. The role of label-boss quickly expanded to include recording, producing and gig booking.
Alongside all of this, Jordan quietly fostered a solo venture Melt in 2014 – a multi-instrumental project based around exploration and improvisation where Jordan wears his influences on his sleeve. Creating Eno inspired loop-based music, chin scratching post-rock grooves and, more recently, returning to jazz for the appreciation of group interaction, musical conversation and listening.
